Cannot get Outlook2003 to sync with Microsoft Exchange email

Post by rcharlesworth »

Hello,

I've been having problems with downloading my Exchange email into Outlook 2003. I can connect to the Exchange server when physically in my company's building but not when out of the office of through a VPN from another office.

Basically when I open Outlook (out of the office) it asks me for my password, then tries to connect and a dialogue box appears. One of 2 tasks has been performed (send email not a problem) for receiving emails it says "'Microsoft Exchange Server' Reported error (0x8004011D) ' The server is not available. Contact administrator'" I have contacted administrator but he does not know the problem.

I am running Windows XP sp3 on a Mac OSX host. Using Outlook 2003 connecting to Exchange server 2003. I had managed to access the server when i was using bootcamp but i recently stopped using bootcamp and moved to Virtualbox.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks
R

My problem is actually the other way round, I can't get Outlook2K7 to talk to Exchange2K3 whilst in the office, but if I am on the Internet and fire up the VPN inside the VM, then all is fine.

I've opened Bug 4150 about this, if you have any useful insights or information to share, please contribute to it.

Thanks,

Matt
