Hi,
I can't restore vm (XP PRO SP2) from saved state every time I saved it. Host OS: XP PRO SP3

Error message (from log):
00:00:08.450 ERROR [COM]: aRC=E_FAIL (0x80004005) aIID={e3c6d4a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e} aComponent={Console} aText={Unable to restore the virtual machine's saved state from '<path to VM home>\{26c317d3-66ed-4e61-9ecf-d02bdc00621c}.sav'. It may be damaged or from an older version of VirtualBox. Please discard the saved state before starting the virtual machine (VERR_SSM_LOAD_CONFIG_MISMATCH)} aWarning=false, preserve=false
00:00:08.450 Power up failed (vrc=VERR_SSM_LOAD_CONFIG_MISMATCH, rc=E_FAIL (0X80004005))

Machine saved and rtying to respawn on Virtual Box version 2.1.4 (the same version, host comp. and the same program instance).

I tried to turn USB off, turn off PAE, IO APIC, ACPI - in various combinations. Everything without effect.

The issue is that the config changed after you put it to save state. Never change things when the VM is in saved state, shut it down properly instead.

Thanks for replay.
Of course I understand that configuration cannot be modified while VM stays in saved state (like hibernation in physical machine). But You shoul know too, that when VM is in saved state, settings are disabled :). That's why I could not change VM during this.

Problem is still actual. I'm saving running VM. It saves itself and closes. Panel shows proprly that VM is i saved state. I choos "Run", it's starting (displays "restoring from saved state"), progress bar reaches 100% and when GUI should appear, VBox displays small window containing error message (like I wrote in my 1st post).

Thanks

Confirmed,

this happened to me several times now :(

VBOX 2.1.4, Host WinXP, Guest WinXP
00:00:09.211 ERROR [COM]: aRC=E_FAIL (0x80004005) aIID={e3c6d4a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e} aComponent={Console} aText={Unable to restore the virtual machine's saved state from 'D:\MYAPPS\VBoxData\machines\XPSP3VS2005\Snapshots\{61804b9f-5d49-4138-b0c7-23f62b0c88be}.sav'. It may be damaged or from an older version of VirtualBox. Please discard the saved state before starting the virtual machine (VERR_SSM_LOAD_CONFIG_MISMATCH)} aWarning=false, preserve=false

00:00:09.217 Power up failed (vrc=VERR_SSM_LOAD_CONFIG_MISMATCH, rc=E_FAIL (0X80004005))
And I have not made any changes to the VM configuration or the sav file.

This problem occurs in my computer very often. What kind of architecture You use?
Mine is:
system: HP Pavilion 5240EA
cpu: AMD 64 3000+ (64 bit but I use Windows XP 32 bit)
ram: 2x1GB = 2GB (333 Mhz, DDR (not II))
chipset: nvidia
graphics: nvidia
