I have a laptop with Windows XP running native. I have a desktop with Fedora 10 running native with VirtualBox 2.1.4 installed. I have a Windows XP guest running under VirtualBox. I am trying to capture the guest Windows XP session to my laptop via Windows remote desktop. I’m not sure how to get the laptop to see the guest Windows session. Will I need to change the Fedora firewall to allow the laptop to get to VirtualBox? Once there will it know how to access the guest system? I’ve been scouring the web to find the answers, but it becoming confusing. Can anyone assist in the problem?
Thanks,
David

Re: Connecting to Windows XP guest via remote desktop
The PUEL version of VB has a build in VRDP server. That allows you to grab the video output from the Guest in an RDP session. See the manual for more information on that.
Something else you can do, is use the RDP server of Windows itself. This isn't available on XP home though. If it's XP Pro, you have two options. One is use port forwarding and NAT, the other is using Host Interface Networking, so the VM will be like a normal machine on the network. For both options, it's best to read the manual first, then ask here if there is something you don't understand or doesn't work. For port forwarding, you might indeed need to change the firewall.
