Shift VM from XP to Linux Host VM (same HW)

Dear all !
Some weeks ago i used XP for the VirtualBox host on my notebook. Now i installed Linux as OS on this notebook
and also the current VBox Host version but the copied guest file from my older XP installation will not start
The startup procedure stops because no Guest-OS could be found on the assigned disk.
Do you have any ideas about this issue ?

What did you copy over, the xml files and the VDI file?

You don't really need the xml files, the VDI is enough, but you do need to recreate the VM with the same settings as before, what settings are you using now? did you attach the proper VDI to the VM?

I've tried nearly all possible settings for the guest system but without any success. Is there any other possibility to start the original
vdi file (from my old XP host) on the new Linux host without default settings ? Thanks for help.....

Try booting from knoppix or gparted to see if there is anything on your VDI, or the recovery console from the xp cd.
