various virtual drive issues

Post by touristguy87 »

Hi,

I have XPsp3 running in a VM on a Ubuntu host. I though that I allocated enough space for my needs...but I didn't know about the problems associated with running Windows apps on data stored in a shared Linux folder. Apparently there is a difference in the way that the file properties are reported.

This leaves me with the choice of either fixing all my scripts...or copying the data onto the Windows virtual-drive and running the scripts. The drive isn't nearly big enough for that, and I don't want to create a 2nd partition just for this. My drive is segmented enough as it is.

Is there a way to upsize the virtual drive after it's fully allocated in the guest OS *without* reinstalling the guest on a new drive?

The VM thinks that the drive is 10GB...how can I make it see a larger virtual drive so that i can copy 10GB of data on to the new drive?
Or even better, how can I get VBox to report the file properties on the shared folder as if it is a Windows drive, to the Windows guest?

Or should I just load Samba on the host and share it for real?

thanks!
