Sorry for my deficient English.
After install VirtualBox (and Guest Additions), all runs perfectly (even usb ports), except shared folders.
Ubuntu 8.04 is updated.
Virtual machine is Windows xp.
I have selected, as shared folder, \home\myname\myshared. But "Network/VirtualBox shared folders" (in Windows explorer) is empty.
I have tried, several times, but VirtualBox shared folders is always empty.
What can I do?.
Thanks a lot.

Re: folder selected as shared not accesible
How did you share it? You have to set the share in the VM settings itself, not from your file browser and select 'Share'. Please see the manual.

Re: folder selected as shared not accesible
Yes, i have set the share with VirtualBox settings. Then, after this, the shared folders must be accessible in Windows Explorer, for my use of this folder. But they are not accessibles.Sasquatch wrote:How did you share it? You have to set the share in the VM settings itself, not from your file browser and select 'Share'. Please see the manual.

Did you try the manual command net use x: \\vboxsvr\sharename? It doesn't always show the shares in the explorer window.

Re: folder selected as shared not accesible

Re: folder selected as shared not accesible
Please install the GA again and see how that goes. Make sure that the folder is actually there in the VM, by hovering the mouse over the Share Folder icon in the status bar.

Re: folder selected as shared not accesible.SOLVED
One of the intents I have done is re-install Guest Additions, but it is not the solution.Sasquatch wrote:Please install the GA again and see how that goes. Make sure that the folder is actually there in the VM, by hovering the mouse over the Share Folder icon in the status bar.
When mouse is just on the shared folders, shows "vboxsvr" with the name of the folder, and de route. But this folder is not shared, because you can't access nor with Windows Explorer neither with MS-DOS (net use x: \\VBOXSVR\...)
------------------
I have found the solution; uninstall (with Synaptic) VirtualBox-Ose, and install VirtualBox-PUEL (virtual machine Windows XP was intact)
Thanks.
