Cannot shut down host after running xp guest on open suse

I successfully installed xp but I am unable to shutdown the computer afterwards.

The host computer simply won't shutdown. I tried pushing the power button (not long enough to force shutdown) but it did nothing.

running

sudo /sbin/shutdown -h now

broadcasts the shutdown message but doesn't seams to do anything else.

I'm using openSuse 11.1

I tried searching for some documentation for this bug, but I couldn't find a thing.
Tell me what else can I do to discover the cause of this bug
