[SOLVED] Virtual Machine Inaccessible after system freeze

Post by GuttaMan »

I left my laptop running last night after rushing to an emergency situation. I come back 20 mins ago to see my entire system crash. Was running linux mint 5 and virtualbox 2.1.2/windows xp guest with Firefox up and running, everything was completely frozen, the date and time was stuck on around the time I left. So, I used ctrl+alt+backspace and that didn't work, then I tried the REISUB method, and that didn't work, so I shut my laptop down manually. Rebooted, started up virtualbox and I get an error message like this:
Could not load the settings file
'home/jr/.VirtualBox/Machines/Windows XP/Windows XP.xml'.

Premature end of data in tag VirtualBox line 4

Location: 'home/jr/.VirtualBox/Machines/Windows XP/Windows XP.xml', line 99
(4), column 5.

Result Code: VBOX_E_XML_ERROR (0x80BB000A)
Component: VirtualBox
Interface: IVirtualBox {339abca2-f47a-4302-87f5-7bc324e6bbde}
I tried hitting the Refresh button but nothing happens. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Either manually edit the xml or re-create the VM and attach old VDI to it.
