USB on VB 2.1.4/Ubuntu 8.10/WinXP

Post by gaf »

There are a couple of issues I have with USB.
First, I would like to be able to sync my blackberry on the WinXP guest OS. When I plug in the blackberry, XinXP sees the storage device, in this case E:, but the BlackBerry desktop manager does not connect to it.

Secondly, while testing the USB, if I plug in a Cruzer mini USB, the USB icon on the VMM recognizes the device as a SanDisk Cruzer Mini, but Windows does not see it. I've tried a few different options, such as setting up a specific USB filter, no filter at al, and generic filter. Additionally, plugging in a USB hard drive exhibits the same symptom, VirtualBox sees the device, but not Windows.

I'm using Virtualbox 2.1.4 (AMD64) on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepix Ibex) 8x6_64, and a 32-bit Windows XP guest OS.

For the Cruzer mini USB problem, try in the USB devices options connect, disconnect and then connect again. I had the same problem, the first time it get recognizes but it is not accessible, the second connect should make it accessible. Not fun but it works for me.

Has for the Blackberry problem, I have no idea. Bummer. I have the same problem with a Garmin Etrex Legend USB. The hardware is recongized and the driver is working properly in Windows XP but my Garmin Mapsouce cannot connect to it or any other software. I tried to find a solution for months without any success.

I'm using Virtualbox 1.6.4 (AMD64) on Suse 10.1 (2.6.16.60-0.30-smp) x86_64, and a 32-bit Windows XP SP2 guest OS.

Not all devices work properly, else if detetced.

Start Windows native or wait for further versions of VBOX.
