RPM for Fedora 11 (now Rawhide)

Post by cgrim »

Hello,

I have a question, when will be rpm for Fedora 11 available? I know, now there is no final release of Fedora 11 just now. But after it's Beta release I would like to test F11 not only in VirtualBox (like now), but directly on my laptop used for daily work. For this I need to run virtual machines in VirtualBox on that laptop. Current VirtualBox version 2.1.4 for F10 cannot be installed on F11 because of Python 2.6 and OpenSSL 0.9.8j.
There is still sollution to build OSE version of VB, but it doesn't support SATA vdi :-(

Thanks,
cgrim

There will be Packages if the Distributions is final.

Before that point you have to use the package for Fedora 10 or neutral packages.

Thank you for your reply. I thought, it will be as you said. So I'll try re-install VB with nodeps after upgrade F10 on F11-beta and I will hope everything will be OK ;-)

I have fresh experience from Fedora 10.92 (Rawhide). VirtualBox executes after install, where was --nodeps flag used, but for kernel 2.6.29-0.258.rc8.git2.fc11 is needed to uncomment

Code: Select all

VBOX_USE_INSERT_PAGE = 1
in /usr/share/virtualbox/src/vboxdrv/Makefile file and than recompile kernel module using /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup.
After that virtual machines executes without any error message. But virtual machine always powered off immediately after it's start up for me.

Today I discovered, that VirtualBox 2.2.0 beta1 was released (http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/2.2.0_BETA1/) and on this version is no power off effect and my virtual machines are working again ;-) Many thanks for "VirtualBox team"!

Btw: uncommenting of VBOX_USE_INSERT_PAGE = 1 is still needed in VB2.2.0-beta1, it's probably kernel issue (spoken here http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/3403).
