Hallo,
i have a problem with USB device.
VB Ver 2.1.4
I installed the VB Guest additions. The guest system is WIN XP PRO SrvPack 3.
I have a USB-Stick to try out USB access. In the USB list of VB it shows an unknown device after i installed the driver, after VB asked for User and password to install new device.
I did also reboot and played with properties in USB configuration, but nothing helped. When i click on unknown device, the following message appears
USB device <unknown> with UUID xxx is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.
Error code: E_INVALIDARG
Is there a way to find out and get a solution?
Jochen

Re: No USB access

Re: No USB access
I have a similar problem, my guest is openSUSE 11.1 64bit, and I have been configure the USB device. But when I login, it's not any USB device appeared in /media.
I think virtualbox 2.1.4 still has many problem needs to reslove.

Re: No USB access
Did you attach the USB device during boot? If so, that's the problem. Linux somehow misses to attach/mount USB devices during boot.

Re: No USB access
I did upgrade VB to 2.2.4
So i have still / new problems with usb. It worked before, but now i cannot connect it to VB. VB is running under WIN XP PRO SRVPCK 3. The host is WIN XP PRO 64 SRVPCK 3.
When i connect USB device to host, the host hardware assistent appears. I entered the administrator login and the driver VB USB was installed. Then i disconnect USB device click into the guest VB and connect the device. The host connect the USB device, but not VB. How can i connect my usb device again? Where is the trick?
Thank you,
Jochen

Re: No USB access
Hi: i'm new to this forum and my greeting to all.
my host is vista 64 and guest is xp pro. i've alreadsy installed guest addition.
(1) although i can see my plugged in usb objects like usb portable harddrive and ms laser mouse, etc. in my DEVICE list. However, I don't see the portable hd in COMPUTER in the guest window so i can't access it. furthermore, in SETTINGS - USB, there's nothing inside the DEVICE FILTER window, while 'enable usb controller' & ''enable usb 2.0 controller (ehci)' are checked.
what have i missed? do i have to add filters before my guest can access usb portable hd? thanks in advance.

Re: No USB access
No answers? I still have the problem, that I cannot connect usb device which worked before.
I don´t really know, what happened, but give VB WIN focus and then connect usb device isn´t working anymore. I have one unknown device, that is alwas there. Don´t know, where belongs to. I tried a lot, red the manual etc. but without result.
Perhaps there is a how to for check or reinstall usb devices on vb? Or somebody can describe shortly a savety way?
