Can't get 64 bit to work as host or client

I'm using openSuse 11.1 64 bit uname -a =Linux (none) 2.6.27.19-3.2-default #1 SMP 2009-02-25 15:40:44 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux and VirtualBox 2.1.4.

I d/l'd and installed the AMD64 version as the download page instructs, have all required dependancies met, and have VT-x/AMD-V enabled.

Bluewhite64 and (ironically) openSuse 11.1 64 bit isos fail to load the kernel at boot and report that I'm using a 32 bit system. The openSuse iso is the exact same one I installed my current os from.

Using pclinuxos (32 bit) and the newer vbox I can launch 64 bit.

I'm not getting any logged errors.

Anyone have any ideas?

You really don't have the proper settings. Check your BIOS if Virtualization is ON. The Logs of the VM also show a thing or two about the VT-x/AMD-v settings.

I'll check the bios - funny works with 32 bit host. What do I look for in the log? There's no mention of VT-x anywhere and several different AMD options.

I do have these :
00:00:00.593 Mnemonic - Description = guest (host)
00:00:00.593 VMX - Virtual Machine Technology = 0 (1)

What are the proper settings? The docs I read said to set ti the way I posted and I've tried various other combos with the same results.

You were absolutly correct - the "Vanderpool Technology" was off in the bios - thanks for the tip. Seems to be working now...
