corrupt DVI File

Post by icem0 »

Hello,

Sorry for my English first!

I have a big problem, I think it's easy to save a DVI-File, I take the howl ~./VirtualBox/ Folder and put it on a external HDD .

I've Backup 2 Virtal Machines 2 x WinXP .

The first XP Machine was a mistake (just 2GB as the maximum size is to smal) , but I have not delete them.

The second Machine is the object of my sorrow!! I've made a Snapshot before I Backup the VirtualBox Folder into the external HDD

And then I have Upgrade the howl System from LinuxMint 5 to LinuxMint 6 and also the VirtualBox application to the latest version.

And now the 2GB XP Machine run without any problems.

But the important Machine doesn't run.

The Error is like an Master-Boot-Record Error , VirtualBox can't read on the DVI

How can I combine the Main DVI and the snapshot ? or is this not necessary ?
How can I get the Fieles out of the DVI ?? transform to ISO or something. need professional help, it's very impotant!

If you took a backup of the entire .VirtualBox folder and put it back after the upgrade/reinstall, then it should work just fine. If you have some important documents on it, you can always load the first XP VDI (or create a new install) and add that as the secondary drive. Then use the F12 boot menu to boot from the other hard drive. It should detect the first one and you will be able to get your data.
