Run Vbox on Fedora 9

Post by spartiat »

hello everyone,

I've installed VBox-2.1.4 (i386) on my fedora 9 using: http://doc.fedora-fr.org/wiki/VirtualBo ... tilisation , apparently the installation was successful, but when I lunch (by text "VirtualBox") it response with this error message:

VirtualBox: supR3HardenedMainGetTrustedMain: dlopen("/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so",) failed: /usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so: undefined symbol: _ZN7QRegionpLERK5QRect

Thinking about an access problem i made chmod 777 and the error message becomes:

VirtualBox: supR3HardenedVerifyFileInternal: Cannot trust the file "/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so": group and/or other writable (st_mode=0100777)

Any help please.

THANK YOU

Please use the search, as this question has been asked numerous times. There are different solutions, so you have to check each of them. The first you can try is to update Qt and see if you have font-config.

Font-config is a package that is available on Ubuntu, but might also be there on other distro's. It's possible that it's not available for you. There were some users who needed that to get the error go away. It's about a missing package or something anyway.

Good idea but it seams that there is no topic, talking about my problem...
I think I'm going to change the OS, and try it in redhat 5.3
