Hi.

I have got some problems with my HITACHI DVD CAM GX3200e. The problem is described by this post on ubuntuforums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... ost6843069

Moreover, I can add that I do have Guest Additions installed and I did created an USB filter for my video camera.
An interesting point is that both the virtualized dvd device (corresponding to my laptop's DVD) and the dvd device represented by the camera reading the mini dvd-rw inserted into it) are readable from "My Computer" (I can open those devices and copy files to my hard disk).

How to make my dvd burner and video camera work using ImageMixer3 on my virtualized box?

Thanks.

Adding it as a USB device doesn't work, right? Meaning you right click on the USB icon and select the camera.

If you want to use your Hosts cd/dvd writer, you have to add the physical drive from the VM settings with Passthrough turned ON.

Yes, I right clicked on the USB icon and selected the camera. Actually the camera appears in the importing device list... but as I WAS not able to import videos since the program HANGED. I also tried to add another 30 GB VDI and select to download videos in this new empty partition but I realized it's WAS not a space issue... (each minidvd is less than 1.5 GB).

As for the DVD I set Passthroug to ON and it worked! Now I can at least import videos from my laptop's DVD device! And... ladies and gentlemen... THE CAMERA WORKS TOO!!!!

CONCLUSIONS:
Enabling that Passthrough (i.e.: setting it to ON) solved both the dvd and the camera problem (well, actually they seem to be the same ATAPI related problem)

Thanks!
