[Solved] Mouse commands not recognised by guest XP

In trying to get compiz working with VB, something has gone badly wrong. I now cannot use the guest at all. After booting into XP (guest) from Ubuntu 8.10 (host), all commands are interpreted as applying to the host (or not at all). In other words, if I try and use the host key (right control F), I get the Ubuntu find dialog box coming up.

Windows shows itself as full screen. Because it is not recognizing any command (except crtl-alt-del) and the mouse command to pop up the start menu (but not actually do anything once the menu pops up), I cannot alter the size of the windows screen, which I suspect is related to the problem.

Also, I have a black line running through the screen from left to almost the right side. This started after I enabled 3D in the VB settings, but remained even after I turned off 3D.

I have removed VB and re-installed it thru the repo's and reinstalled guest additions, with no change.

All I can think of next is a complete re-installation of 8.10 and VB

P.S. neither the mouse nor the keyboard are listed in the usb settings.

CPU: amd64
Keyboard and mouse: Logitech wireless usb

Update:
Tried using serial keyboard and mouse - no change
Tried disabling compiz - no change
Tried disabling all dekstop effects - no change

The problem seems to be related to the XP desktop (graphics related?). I can access the folders within xp, even those on the desktop, just not by clicking on the desktop. I have to open my documents and go from there.

So, in summary, I can see the Windows desktop, but not open anything on it. The host keys cannot be used to resize the desktop window, go seamless, etc. The desktop frequently disappears into the Ubuntu taskbar and cannot be revived (but the start menu does pop-up).

Solved
Removed Nvidia drivers (neither 177 or 173 worked with VB) and disabled Visual Effects (i.e. None). Restarted and all ok.

Strange. I have the nVidia driver 173 installed, along with Compiz-Fusion and no problems on my Ubuntu 8.10 install. You might have had input conflicts with shortcuts etc.
