Existing HD Virtually

Post by t.arnfeld »

Hello,
I have a windows vista installation on an external HD via USB and currently run Ubuntu Intrepid Ibix.

I was wondering if i could use the vista external HD as a virtual machin with virtual box Ubuntu?

Thanks in advanced!

Better let it be.

You can try to convert the Vista in a normal Guest in a guest image- One way to do this is the VMWARE Converter, which creates vmdk Files.

I'm pretty sure you can, 9.10 in the documentation... but i don't understand it?

if i use VMWARE will it turn the whole HD into a .vdmk then i'll have a 90GB file?
or will it just referench the vdmk to the physicall drive? < thats what i want ?
