USB and VRDP work individually, but not together.

Okay, I've been trying very hard to make this word and so far no luck.

I am running VirtualBox 2.1.4 on an Ubuntu 8.10 host, with a Windows XP SP3 guest VM. So far, I have been able to do the following:

-Access an Ubuntu-mounted iPod inside the XP guest, by simply using a USB filter in VBox and adding the following to /etc/fstab:

none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=129,devmode=664 0 0

-Access the XP guest via Ubuntu through VRDP using rdesktop, rdesktop-vrdp, Terminal Server Client, etc. This has been from both the host machine and another remote Ubuntu notebook.

But no matter what I do, I cannot get XP to access that same ipod that has been mounted remotely on said Ubuntu notebook. I have seen everywhere that VirtualBox touts USB-over-VRDP, but I haven't seen any examples of it working. I've tried rdesktop-vrdp, rdesktop -r usb, rdesktop-vrdp -r disk:usb=/media/"iPod Name". Nothing seems to work.

And I do have "Any" selected for the USB filter remote option.

Does anyone know how to make this work? I am planning on building an Ubuntu server running a headless VirtualBox instance of XP, and I need other machines to be able to remotely access iTunes in XP over VRDP.
