Seamless XP does not work

Post by Dafoe »

Hi all,

just installed virtualbox on my ubuntu 8.10 i386 machine with windows xp sp3 as guest system. I cannot however get the xp to behave in a seamless mode even though I press "right-ctrl" + L at the same time.

Any hint highly appreciated!

Have you installed the guest additions? If not install them and seamless mode should be available.

I installed virtualbox using the apt-get source for intrepid so:

apt-get install virtualbox-2.1

Are you suggesting that I install the OSE version and the guest addition package which comes with the OSE package. I ask because if I am to install the ose version it wants to remove the virtualbox-2.1 package i recently installed.

You have to install the Guest Additions in your XP Guest. See the manual for how to do that.

Ok, I was using VBoxGTK to manage my virtual machine - Suns xVM Virtualbox is what I needed.

Thx
