[SOLVED] Stuck with VirtualBox
Posted: 14. Feb 2009, 14:13
I am no way an expert at linux as I've only been really using it the last week or so. I have ubuntu OS and I wanted to setup a windows XP pro VM using VirtualBox (recommended by colleague) I have never used this either so you can image how frustrating this is all getting
I downloaded and installed the linux build of VirtualBox and managed to start the app (funny enough this wasnt available via the menu system on ubuntu and I had to type "VirtualBox" into the console to start it. I inserted my XP pro disc and managed to get through to installl. Windows all worked and I began to install my normal apps on to the VM last night. It was when I got up and switched the pc back on that I had problems.
First of all I went to the console to type virtualBox but it couldnt find it anymore and aksed me to run this line: sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose which resulted in some package installs but I recieved the error;
The VirtualBox app now has an icon in my menu system which is great and it seems to load up but when I go to select my windows XP pro install it says;
(shows Windows XP pro: powered off then I select it and click run)
Cheers

Ok, I think that maybe something got screwed up somewhere so I try to delete it and I cant even do that! So now I have a 10G partition that I cant get back and a VM that doesnt want to work and I cant understand what I did wrong... should I never power off my pc or something? :pSun xVM VirtualBox SDL GUI 2.0.4_OSE built Oct 26 2008 19:30:08
