OpenSuse Guest hangs during install process
Posted: 12. Feb 2009, 16:51
I am running the VirtualBox OSE (v 1.5.6_OSE) under Ubuntu using Linux version 2.6.24-22. Currently, I have successfully installed Windows XP and Oracle Enterprise Linux as a guest in VirtualBox but cannot install OpenSuse 11.1 because it hangs during the install.
I start the install file and see the Welcome screen and then the menu. I select the 'Installation' option, see the 'Loading Linux Kernel' progress bar go to 100% and then the virtual screen goes black. No disk or network activity is shown. Sometimes I am presented with an error dialog that refers me to the log file which I can post if anyone is curious.
I downloaded the OpenSuse install file (openSUSE-11.1-DVD-i586.iso) from http://software.opensuse.org/ and have setup the VirtualBox guest as follows:
Virtual Disk: 10 GB dynamic
OS Type: Linux 2.6
Base Memory: 1024 MB
Video Memory: 8 MB
ACPI: Enabled
IO APIC: Disabled
CD/DVD-ROM: Image openSUSE-11.1-DVD-i586.iso
Thanks for any help!
