2 NICs but only 1 NIC is accepted

Post by themoon17 »

Hi all,

i have a problem creating Host Interface with 2 NIC cards.: let me explain it carefully:

My host OS is : Windows 2003 R2 SBS
Guests: i ahve got almost 4 Ubuntu guests each running different services.
Number of NICs on Host : 2 NIC
NIC 1:Intel(R) PRO/1000 EB Network Connection with I/O Acceleration
NIC 2:Intel(R) PRO/1000 EB Network Connection with I/O Acceleration #2
(NIC 1 AND 2 ARE OF SAME MAKE INTEL)

What am trying to achieve?

I have 2 Networks at my office:

1. 192.168.99.0 series &
2. 192.168.6.0 series

I have connected the NIC 1 to 192.168.99.0 LAN( YOU CAN CALL LAN1)
I have connected the NIC 2 to 192.168.6.0 LAN( YOU CAN CALL LAN2)

I have something called INTRANET used for whole office( mean to say users from both the networks will use this)

I enabled 2 network adapters to one of my VM & i selected NIC 1 for 1st adapter as HOSTINTERFACE and NIC 2 for second as HOSTINTERFACE

Now, the problem is the VM wil not boot and it pops out an error saying
--------------------------------------------------------
Failed to open/create internal network
'HostInterfaceNetworking-Intel(R) PRO/1000 EB Network Connection with I/O Acceleration'
(VERR_INTNET_INCOMPATIBLE TRUNK)

Failed tp attach network LUN
(VERR_INTNET_INCOMPATIBLE TRUNK)

Unknown error creating VM
(VERR_INTNET_INCOMPATIBLE TRUNK)

Result code : E_FAIL (0x80004005)

Component : Console

Interface:Iconsole{e3c6d4a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e}
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, If i select only NIC 1 and vomit NIC2 it is giving same error.

Please some body helpme

Regards

Guesswork:

Try renaming one of the network adapters and see if that makes any difference.
Some say: "You learn as long as you live".
My way: "You live as long as you learn".
