VirtualBox support driver

Post by freddaggs »

I updated from Virtual Box version 2.0.1 to 2.1.2 and I get the following when I start Virtual Box

I am using Fedora 10 as the Host System

The VirtualBox support driver which is running is from a different version of VirtualBox. You can correct this by stopping all running instances of VirtualBox and reinstalling the software. (VERR_VM_DRIVER_VERSION_MISMATCH).

Please run the setup for the module again. This can be done by running sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup from a terminal. This should recompile the kernel module. Make sure that you have the proper tools and correct version of your kernel headers.

So you first had 2.0.x? See the VirtualBox FAQ about that kind of upgrade procedure. I had that when switching from 1.6.x to 2.0.x. I ended up removing VB and purging it's config (don't worry, your VMs are kept) and install the new version after a reboot.
