Hello everyone. I'm very new to VirtualBox, but I love it already. I'm attempting to install our "Company Standard" Windows XP image from the network. I keep failing and it's because of an odd error.

I'm on a Centos 5.2 box attempting to install XP over the network, but I can't understand how the vmname.pxe and other files are supposed to work. I know I'm not giving much info here, so please let me know what you want to see so I can post it. Thanks!!

Basically just treat the Virtual Machine running inside VirtualBox as a real PC. Set the networking in the settings to use "Host Networking", and choose a valid MAC address which your network imaging server knows. Most BOOTP servers are set to only provide PXE images to specific MAC addresses. You will need to contact your Network Administrator to find out what MAC addresses can be used for network installing the XP image.

On other notes, be aware that the Hardware emulated in VirtualBox may differ from the hardware of your workstation PCs in your workplace, which may most likely cause stability issues in the windows installation. That is if your company uses an imaging software such as Norton Ghost to distribute the images.
