Reformating host

Post by ledd777 »

Hi,

my windows host needs a reformat, and it needs it badly. My virtual box ubuntu is on a separate partition, but I dont know if I'll be able to run it if I install new windows, as the ubuntu starting programs are in the current host windows. Stuff I have on ubuntu are very important, and I cannot risk to loose them...

If the full VM config is on a different drive/partition, it won't be lost. Just make a backup of your .VirtualBox folder in your user profile and you should be done. Put it back after the reinstall and happy working.

Virtualbox folder you mean installation folder/from program files? Just to copy it to another system?

I stated, the one in your user profile. That's C:\documents and settings\<user>\.Virtualbox or C:\users\<user>\.Virtualbox.
