Having trouble with screen resolution

Post by jktechwriter »

I did a search for this issue - found the post about installing the Addition - I grabbed it, and performed the following commands from the console:

# cd /media/cdrom
# sudo bash ./VBoxLinux*

(These came from that original post)

The command ran ok - some screen jibberish which I didn't understand completely but got a success message of sort. I restarted my VM and tried to change the resolution, but I still only have 800x600 and 640x480 as options.

I'm running Ubuntu in the VM on my XP Pro laptop. I'm needing to take some screen captures but I'm finding that some of the application configuration screens (such as the Evolution setup wizard) are too large and I can't see the Forward/Back/Cancel buttons at the bottom of the screens. Other config screens have more info to config that is below the bottom of the screen.

Any help will be appreciated by this VM and Ubuntu newb.

Thanks, all.

Assuming you are using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibix, 8.10, you have to look on the forums for my xorg.conf configuration file. Search for vboxvideo xorg.conf with either the forum search or Google (latter might get better results).
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.

Try searching the forums first with Google and add the site filter for this forum.
E.g. install guest additions site:forums.virtualbox.org
