There is more than one result, and more than one solution to your problem. The 'solution' you mention is noted in the FAQ, but that doesn't always work.

it works fine for me on fedora9 and fedora10 latest 64-bit kernel.

try to solve the dependencies by using yum instead of just rpm:

Code: Select all

su - (to become root)
yum install kernel-devel kernel-headers (to get development libraries)
yum update (to fetch latest kernel)
yum localinstall --nogpgcheck VirtualBox-2.1.2_41885_fedora9-1.i386.rpm (to install vbox)
you have to be careful with the userguide and even most of the advice on these forums as its very biased towards ubuntu instead of fedora, so a lot of the commands won't work.

I encountered this issue with VirtualBox 2.1.2 under fedora9 with qt3-3.3.8b-14.fc9.i386.

Fix was to upgrade qt to qt-4.4.3-10.fc9.

The VirtualBox rpm obviously does not specify it's qt requirement correctly, and allows itself to be installed with earlier versions of qt that do not have the necessary API.
