FATAL: No bootable medium found. System Halted!

Let me start by saying I've read the manual.
I installed the application fine.
I went through every setting.

I selected the correct O.S,Created the virtual disk.
I've downloaded two copies of Netbsd .iso.
I select the virtual rom,
I load the .iso
I make sure it's stated that it's loaded.

I start the application,
I start the guest operating system.
I press F12
I select C for cd-rom.
I get the error
"No bootable medium found. System Halted!"

I make sure the cd-rom says it's loaded.

I've even went as far as downloading Daemon tools and trying to use it as an alternative to using the virtualbox virtual rom.

I've read through the forums, I've googled it.
I'm completely lost.

Someone please help.

If it's a clean VM, just let the boot process run, don't press any key to change the boot device. It should go from floppy to cdrom then hard disk automatically.

If that doesn't work, make sure that the ISO is actually bootable.

I've tried a different ISO of NetBSD.
still not working.
i let it cycle through the boot options and then i selected the cd-rom in the 'bios'

Can someone point me to a known-working iso of NetBSD?
This is really frustrating.

To be sure that it's not a user error or something else, download a different bootable ISO, like DSL (Damn Small Linux). That download should be about 100 MB, maybe less.

Hi all, I have figured it out in this way --- SOLVED (for me it worked) ---:
- start the virtual machine
- press F12 at start screen
- chose the Devices menu, Mount CD/DVD-ROM, and select the source you want VB to start from
- press the letter corresponding with your boot choice

You could have just mounted the ISO/CD from the VM settings and boot the VM normally .
