virtualbox 2.1.2 on Intel Atom N270 hyperthreading issue

Post by kartikeyans »

Hi,

Host conf
===========
1. Inten Atom N270 (Acer one netbook)
2. XP Home
3. VirtualBox 2.1.2 installed

Guest = Fedora Core 10
=======
After successfull installation of Fedora Core 10,
Atom N270 is recognized in /proc/cpuinfo but
Hyperthreading is missing.

cat /proc/interrupts or cat /proc/cpuinfo
does not show the second thread cpu1.

How do I fix this?

Usually mulitple cores are not passed through - for performance reasons. This is certainly in particular valid for a virtual hyper-thread core. Your host OS will make much better use of the virtual core than the guest would after passing it through.

At this time VBox only presents a single CPU instance.
