Wrong mode (42700) of '/tmp/.vbox-diegof-ipc'.
Wrong mode (42700) of '/tmp/.vbox-diegof-ipc'.
Asi los borre, vuelve y los crea y me sale el mismo error

Si ejecuto /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxSVC me sale lo siguiente:
Wrong mode (42700) of '/tmp/.vbox-diegof-ipc'.
Wrong mode (42700) of '/tmp/.vbox-diegof-ipc'.
ERROR: Failed to get IPC service! (rc=80040154)
XPCOM server has shutdown.

Lo raro es que me estaba funcionando antes, solo que una ves estaba trabajando y se me cerro inexplicablemente y desde ahi no me ha vuelto a abrir.

Cualquier ayuda que me puedan dar.

Muchas gracias.

I'm sorry I don't speak Spanish, but it's telling you that the temporary directory doesn't have correct permissions.

Remove /tmp/.vbox-diegof-ipc and try starting VirtualBox again. It will create the directory.

It doesen't do any good - at least for me. These fragging permissions will be these same there after.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 so I have DBus and I have HAL up and running.
I've tryed to stop DBus, it messed my desktop but even that didn't helped me.

The last working VirtualBox is 2.04 for me.
Any other is doing "XPCOM" and "Wrong mode (42700)" shit.

Ubuntu 8.04 with the same problem

Hi dk75, did you solve this problem?

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 8.04.2
I tried also to remove the /tmp/.vbox directory but I got the same error...

Any tip will be welcome!

No - I'm not do any attempt to resolve this even. I'm waiting to 9.04 release and I will install it clean. Totaly clean. I will install clean home directory to. And then I will check it out.

Right now I'm to lazy for that.

[edit2]
In the end it was "/tmp" folder permissions for me.
I've got "2777" as permissions but it should be "1777" but since I'm using "TMPFS" as "/tmp" then I couldn't just change these permissions by hand as long term solutions but I needed to edit "/etc/fstab".
Tanks to frank@ from "staff" who was more than patient and forgiving at the bugtracker.
