The mouse is not captured

Post by gianca »

My operating system is Ubuntu 8.04.2 Hardy Heron 32-bit (as Host).

In this operating system I installed Sun xVM Virtualbox version 2.1.2, downloaded from the site of Sun.

In VirtualBox I installed Granular 1.0 via the keyboard, because the mouse was not caught.

However, the mouse is essential to use Granular.

The VBoxGuestAdditions_2.1.2.iso are installed, as from the following location: / home/giancarlo/.VirtualBox/VBoxGuestAdditions_2.1.2.iso

Do you have information on this?

For your information, the same version of VirtualBox I have installed Windows XP without problems, the mouse has been captured to the first window.

Thanks

You did click inside the window so it actually grabs the mouse? Not all Linux Guests use the vboxmouse directly. Sometimes you need to add it to your xorg.conf. Search the forums for "xorg.conf vboxmouse" and you will get the answer.

Thanks Sasquatch,

Yes I click inside the window but the mouse does not capture.
I checked the forum 'xorg.conf vboxmouse' but I do not have the expertise to make the change in xorg.conf.

If you could help me I would be grateful. You send the current xorg.conf:

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"
	Identifier	"Generic Keyboard"
	Driver "kbd"
	Option "XkbRules"	"xorg"
	Option "XkbModel"	"pc105"
	Option "XkbLayout"	"it"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
	Identifier	"Configured Mouse"
	Driver "mouse"
	Option "CorePointer"
EndSection

Section "Device"
	Identifier	"Configured Video Device"
	Driver "fglrx"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
	Identifier	"Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
	Identifier	"Default Screen"
	Monitor "Configured Monitor"
	Device "Configured Video Device"
	Defaultdepth	24
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
	Identifier	"Default Layout"
  screen "Default Screen"
EndSection
Section "Module"
	Load "glx"
EndSection

You don't have to change anything to the Xorg.conf file of your host. It's the Guest that needs it.

What OS is your Guest exactly? I assumed Linux too, but you also mention XP.

As Guest OS is Granular 1.0

As Host I have:

- Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.2 with installed VirtualBox and
as Guest Granular 1.0

- Windows XP Prof. SP3 with installed VirtualBox and
as Guest Granular 1.0 - without problems for mouse. (I give you for example only)

Is Ubuntu Hardy Host's only that I have the problem to capture the mouse.

How do I change Guest - Granular 1.0 - if the mouse is not caught? It works just the keyboard.

Thanks
