Hi Guys,
I have a seemingly simple objective but I don't know if what I want to do is possible....
I have an educational lab with XP hosts deployed via Symantec Ghost attached to an AD domain. All users logging in have AD accounts. No user logging in is in the Administrator's group.
I'd like to install an instance of Ubuntu as a guest in the latest VB. I would like all users to see the same instance, be able to start it, but not be able to change/configure it (except for attaching ISOs or DVDs).
I understand that write permissions for the vhd must be given to any user invoking the VB instance. This is no problem. I understand that it is inherently insecure, but if the user mucks it up, I'll just re-image the host.
Is such an arrangement possible?
Thanks,
AUPhil

It should be possible. I do ask you to do some research yourself before comming here and ask how to do it all. Just do what you think is needed.
You got the first thing down, that is the user rights. Now I think all you need to add, is the .VirtualBox folder to the All Users folder. Or if that doesn't work, add it to the default user folder in case they don't have that fancy roaming profile. Adding it to the default user folder will add it to the new user template, so the students will have the settings already with them.
