Hi!
I've installed Virtualbox on an Ubuntu host and I'm running SLES10 as a guest os. On the guest os, I can perfectly download files over http from another physical machine, but when trying to use scp, the network stalls... This problem does not occur on the host system, and, when I try to copy sth from the host (on the guest) this also is not a problem... When the network is configured using NAT, it works correctly (tested on ubuntu guest). However, host interface is needed because the guest OS needs a fixed IP address...
Virtualbox 2.1.2
Host: Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid
Guest: SLES10
NIC1 Host interface
NIC Type: tried all 4
Using command line...
Anybody who has had the same issue? Any help is welcome!
Thanks!
Network stalled
Issue solved. I'll share it in case sb has the same problem.
Guest OS network settings: MTU 1500 (SLES10)
Host OS network settings: MTU 576 (Ubuntu)
It works with an Ubuntu guest because the settings are the same on both Host and Guest OS.
To change the MTU to 1500 in Ubuntu - using dynamic IP - add the following line to the interface (/etc/network/interfaces) - in my case eth0
post-up /sbin/ifconfig/$IFACE mtu 1500
If you have a fixed IP address, just add
mtu 1500
down & up the interface
