I have looked and scoured this forum and Google but still no success with solving this issue. In order to support different customers I need the ability to run different vpn clients... So far I have installed virtualbox v2.1.0 onto a laptop with kubuntu 8.04.1 and have successfully installed an XP guest with all current service packs and the virtualbox guest additions. Working with this as my base XP image I ran the command 'VBoxManage clonehd VirtualXP.vdi CiscoXP.vdi" to create a duplicate vm disk that will eventually have the Cisco vpn client installed. The command runs fine with no errors, I create a new vm, duplicating all of the original vm's preferences and pointing it to the newly created 'hard disk'.
When booting the newly created vm the first thing I noticed is that is presents the windows login dialog box (where the original did not), it seems to take quite a bit longer for the desktop icons to appear and the Start/Taskbar is off the bottom of the screen. I can see pop-up message bubbles but no bar... I have tried to change the resolution, full screen mode, seamless mode with no change. And when I try to run the cisco vpn setup I get the error message that the windows installer is not responding or not installed properly.
Not sure what to check or what to think... Any help appreciated.
