I use ubuntu with a Creative Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro. On the host the driver is set to the ALSA Audigy 2 multichannel playback/capture and the sound works. Inside the virtual machine (Win XP) I can't get the sound to work. I have tried every combination of settings. Using ALSA with ICH AC97 a device actually shows up w/ an icon in the task bar but no sound.
Don't know what to do...
Thanks
Cannot get the sound to work

No, not this way. Only via Emulation.
Have you checked really all mixers? Is the card detected in the guest? Else it could not work.
Which version from vbox? Which exact host version? Infos in the logs?
Start VBOX in a Console, look for error messages.
