I thought I would give Virtualbox one more go at it. I have tried the Puel version and the new 2.1.2 version. I am having trouble with getting the USB to work.
Supposedly...the 2.1.2 version has added help for USB. I have just noticed on this page: http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/E ... VirtualBox......that there is a requirement for three additional libraries and that they need to be installed according to the version of Linux one is using.
The files are: libxalan-c
libxerces-c
version of libstdc
What are the exact command lines to get and install these...if that is the way to this.
Thanks for any help!

What flavour of Linux are you using? Use the site: qualifier to google the forum which some specific keywords to see if this has come up before. For most distros, the PUEL edition should just install "out of the box", you do need to have the basic packages loaded which allow you to recompile the kernel.

I forgot...I am using Ubuntu 8.10. I have installed Puel and made needed changes to no avail. I have another thread stating the details that is on this first page. As I stated the 2.1.2 is supposed to have updated USB help.
From what I have discovered..the USB is the perhaps the largest hangup of Virtualbox, otherwise it seems to be a great program to me. I sure hope so as I sure don't wish to duel both windows with Ubuntu.

Any decent package manager should resolve the dependencies of the VB package.
