Hi,

There was a problem using USB devices in Ubuntu 8.10.

You have updated virtualbox and it works now, thank you!

But I still have a problem. I checked "USB 2.0", but in guest OS (Windows XP) it says that device connected to slow USB... And it is really slow. It takes about 5 minutes for Iriver plus to read all the data from player..

Is it known issue or I'm doing something wrong?

You mean, that USB 2.0 required more then just checking checkbox?

I said that it works now in first topic, that is why I asked if you're sure that I'm talking exactly about 2.0, not just simple USB.

Are you sure that your XP can handle USB 2? If it hasn't seen any updates, it won't be able to use USB2. Since SP1, USB 2 is supported in XP. Check if the driver is installed, and selecting the EHCI checkbox should be enough.

I use SP2, so no problems with is.

Where can I find EHCI checkbox?

VM settings > USB..? Please look before you ask, it makes you appear dumb .

Don't be angry, I thought it is settings of guest windows..

Of course, check box is checked.

I have VB 2.1.2 running on Ubuntu 8.1..0

My USB devices, except for HP printer, are greyed out in XP Home.

Please don't tell me to Google.

No, but I see a filter came up all on its own. So I now just created one for the USB drive.
The details showed automatically, leaving Port blank and Remote set to No

If you followed the topic, and read all the responses, you would have seen that advise in the second post, by TerryE.

A: You must install the PUEL Edition of VirtualBox. The OSE version does not include RDP, USB, iSCSI and SATA support. See the Wiki Editions page for an explanation of the differences between the two VB versions.

That was the first thing I did. It's still all greyed out.

It works in Windows version 2.1.2, on Windows 7, so I guess the Linux version has to play catchup.

A pity, beause I was ready to make Ubuntu my prime OS.
