Cannot start guest created with VMware

Post by aldero99 »

Hi,

I tried to start a Virtual Machine in VBox which has a .vmdk file as harddisk attached to it but it will not boot.

VMWare Workstation 6.5.x vmdk exported disk not booting

Post by nospampleez »

I exported a Windows XP SP3 VMWare Workstation 6.5.x VM and attempted to start it under Ubuntu 8.04 running VirtualBox 2.1.2. I can get to the boot screen and the only option that starts to boot is safe mode.

VMWare Server 2 vmdk disk not booting

Post by donacs »

I have tried 3 vmdk files: Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. None of them work in VirtualBox 2.1.2. These were vmdk files were all created using VMWare Server 2 and the all say "Virtual Hardware Version 7".

Could the vmware tools be messing them up for VirtualBox?
