Installation failed because 6to4svc.dll is running-VB 2.1.2

Post by wewek »

Hello,

I can't install VB 2.1.2 on Vista 32b.
I get this error during the installation:
"The application "6to4svc.dll" needs to be closed for the installation to continue."
I don't have any 6to4svc.dll on my C:\
First I thought that I have virus but I scanned C: with Symantec antivirus and with windows defender and no infiltration was detected.
How can I solve this problem?

Thank you for reply.

Are you sure to you don't have this file in your C:\Windows\System32 folder? The file you describe, when searching it with Google, reveals that it's used for an IPv6 tunnel. If you have Vista, it means that you have a Teredo tunnel running that uses this. Either disable IPv6 in your interfaces properties, or disable the Teredo service (you will loose IPv6 connectivity, but only a few services run on this protocol, though it should change soon).
If you run XP, some software, like uTorrent, or you did it yourself manually, installed the IPv6 protocol which also enables the Teredo tunnel for IPv6 connectivity.
