VB 2.1.2 - Cannot use VX-T/AMD-V

Hi all!
There are VX-T/AMD-V and paging options under Advanced settings tab, but they are inactive (i.e. I cannot check or uncheck them).
I can make them checked only via command line with modifyvm command. They become checked, but still inactive. And there is no difference in VM behavior after such checking.
Maybe, I'm missing some system components? How can I use VX-T?
OS: Zenwalk 5.4 (Slackware based), Kernel: 2.6.27.7 SMP Preempt

Does your hardware have VT-X? i.e what is cpu model?

Forum FAQ. You need to have a BIOS which support VT-x enabling. Some (like my laptop's) don't.

I have the same problem. I have an Intel quad Q8200 (I checked that it supports VT-x). my mobo is an MSI P6NGM-FIH. Perhaps I missed something in the BIOs setting or no option exist to enable VT-x.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to check if my mobo supports VT-x? works fine on my other mobo (AMD9550). But I hear that it is always enable in AMD CPUs.

Go to the website of the mainboard manufacturer and look for your mainboard. In the specs should be if it supports it or not. You can also check your BIOS for the Virtualization option. Perhaps a BIOS upgrade makes it available.

Have a look at a
VBox.log in one of your VMs. This will tell you what VBox has and has not detected in detail.

The problem solved: my T2050 does not support VT-x.....
Will buy a new CPU...

Do you really need 64 bit guests
now? It seems a same to replace a perfectly good CPU (and if you are not careful M/B and memory to match them to the new CPU) unless you
really need it?

If I've seen it right, the core duo and core 2 duo use different sockets, so 64 bit is not possible unless you upgrade the whole system. Socket M for core duo, socket 775 for core 2 duo/quad.

I have similar problem, but I can't see what I'm missing.
My host is HP xw9400 (dual AMD Opteron 2218) with Virtualisation support enabled in BIOS. BIOS is at the latest version (03.13). My host OS is linux debian lenny x86_64 running kernel 2.6.27.8. VBox version is 2.1.2.
I'm trying to set up a Windows 7 64-bit virtual machine. My problem is that VBox is apparently not using AMD-V extensions and hence installation fails.

I installed 2.1.4 on a Linux Fedora 10 X86-64 system. I have enabled VT-x and nested paging in the setting for a windows XP VM.. but when I run it only sets VT-x, it says that nested paging is disabled. I have a Intel E8500 with a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P which in the BIOS has Virtualization functions enabled.

You either didn't enable AMD-V properly in your BIOS or your BIOS is broken (it wouldn't be a first). In case of the latter try to find an upgrade for the BIOS.

According to
http://processorfinder.intel.com/detail ... Spec=SLAPK your processor doesn't have nested paging. It should be a CPU option. IIRC, only the i7 CPU's from Intel have that.

HP made stupid mistake in BIOS for this workstation. When You ENABLE AMD-V, You DISABLE it
Inversed logic. So DISABLE AMD-V in BIOS and You get it
They say, that this bug fixed in one of older BIOS upgrade, but it not true. I have HP xw9400 with 03.13 BIOS too, superb computer, worked perfectly with Virtualbox, AMD-V and other whistlers and bells.

I have the same setup as the chap xw9400 Dual AMD and 3.13 Bios and cannot get Hardware Virtualization working in VMWare to run ESX Server using AMD - v option.
I have tried enable / disable etc but it still says to me when I boot the ESX host on VMWorkstation Hardware Virtualization not enabled in BIOS.
Any ideas what could be the issue here as I have done the same with a lower end xw2400 but with Intel - VT and same VMWare Workstataion.
Appreciate any help as I am tearing what is left of my hair out.
