clone old windows 2000 server

Post by herrmeier »

Hallo I have another task to do.
I'm trying to clone a windows 2000 server with navision into a virtual machine.
I have all needed windows licenses.
Any tips where to look for a howto.
A search with google didn't get me any further yet.
Possibly the wrong search terms.

I was thinking to copy the whole server into a virtual machine with
dd.
1. mbr
2. dd each partition

Thanks already

Yours

Hans

If you want to run a physical install to a VM, you might want to check the VMWare converter. That allows you to convert a physical install to a VMDK image, which you can then use in VB.

If it's just an already existing VM you need to clone, you can use the vboxmanage clonehd command.
