My Network Places on Windows Guest broken

I am running Windows XP guest on Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid). After upgrading to VB 2.1.2, when I click on the My Network Places folder, my virtual machine shuts down and the status indicates "aborted". I can get anywhere on the network from any other window by typing the address, but I can't get anywhere on the network through saved network places using the My Network Places folder without my machine closing.
