Yes, I have read that user guide but there is mentioned only 32bit XP supported.

- Windows XP, all service packs (32-bit)

But Vista support is for both 32bit and 64bit operating system.

I need to know if Virtual Box runs well in XP 64 host or do I need Vista for 64bit windows host?

IIRC that was 1.6.6 which didn't support 64bit guests. I am not sure that it is properly supported. Try it.

64 bit Guest support is since 2.0.0.

Yes, we know but the dialogue was about whether XP-64bit is a supported host for 64bit guests. You could definitely install 1.6.6 on XP-64bit, but the issue is that since 2.1.0 (IIRC) section 1.4 explicitly states that "Windows XP, all service packs (32-bit)" is supported contrasted to "Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit1)". There must be a reason why XP-64bit is clearly excluded.

Ah, that. Probably because XP x64 wasn't as popular as Vista x64 is. IIRC, driver support was terrible and most users didn't need more than 2 GB of RAM. And even if they did, they either put 3 GB in there computer, or accepted that they didn't get the full 4 GB (though it was possible to see that with /PAE on the boot parameter). Real need wasn't there yet.
