Black Webcam Picture in XP Guest (USB Bandwidth?)

Webcam worked fine in VMware XP guest - (VMWare ALSA/Linux Host Audio support is shocking, hence my migration to VirtualBox). I find VirtualBox superior in many respects on a linux host.
I've seen forum posts referring to the black webcam picture issue saying it's caused by a USB bus bandwidth issues in Virtualbox.
- How would i be able to prove this is the cause? I have USB2 and EHCI enabled in VirtualBox.
My webcam shows up as an imaging device in device manager (USB Video Device), skype and Windows Movie Maker detect the device and power it on (green LED next to camera). Webcam works ok on the host (by only at 640x480) in cheese and skype (with modified xml configuration).
Would really like some help on this, or information as to a possible solution - let me know if there a patch being worked on by Sun to fix this soon..
