Windows XP / Windows 7 beta guest

Post by Kleyber »

Hi,

I am a new VB user, and I would like to know if it`s possible in the guest (Windows 7) to access a folder (or shared folder) that I have on my Windows host (XP) easily. I have tried just to use Share Folder option, but inside Windows 7 I cannot recognize the shared folder. Any clue? Or is it a limitation of Windows 7 beta?

TIA

Use normal Windows Shares, that works every time.

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for your attention. Let me tell you what I did:

1 - Installed VB normally
2 - Installed Windows 7 beta on it
3 - On Network options, I did not change anything. Left on NAT
4 - On Windows XP, I shared a folder called KLEYBER_TK
5 - On Windows 7 I tried to see the shared folder, but without success.

It`s very new to me and maybe I am going wrong, but I would like to know what to do.

TIA

In the soon upcoming version of VirtualBox we added full support for Windows 7 guests (x86 and am64 version), including Shared Folders.

In the Guest you can try in a command line:

"net use x: \\10.0.2.2\KLEYBER_TK"

Probably the command line must be started as admin.
