After upgrading to VirtualBox 2.1.0 my laptop started frequently running at 100% CPU for period of time and running extremely sluggishly. The symptoms would start pretty much immediately after starting something that accessed the network. After a period of high load it would go back to normal for a few minutes and then head back up to 100 and do it all agian. Symptoms were weird - Virtual box was using a lot of CPU but not enough to see to be impacting overall performance as badly as it was. Seemed more like the kernel was having problems.
I was about to downgrade to get rid of the problem because the situation was was unworkable. However before doing that I started removing software to see if it was something else causing it.
I found someone had installed iTunes and Bonjour. I removed Bonjour - problem gone instantly.
Has anyone else notice this?
Vista 32 host, WinXP vm, nat mode network, bonjour only on the host
2.1.0 & Bonjour
