Networking Diffs Windows 7 on Vista home Premium host

Managed to install both the VM and the OS but the Guest Additions errors. So installed the network driver manually -ok.
I am running on a wireless network.
The network and sharing centre on Win7 shows me having limited connectivity and running the wizard returns -
The network adaptor "Local Area Connection" does not have a valid IP configuration.
Any ideas?
Answers in English please - not a PC expert!
