mouse freezing on starting virtual guest of Windows 7

Post by huggy »

I've been trying to get Windows 7 Beta to install using Virtualbox, on a XP host. At the outset I've told it that it's Vista as I understand that Win 7 is compatible with Vista. I've created a filter for my mouse. As soon as I start the virtual machine the mouse pointer freezes and fails to respond. Any thoughts as to what is causing this?

VB already provides a mouse for your Guest, why did you enable USB for it? When you attach your only mouse to the Guest, of course your Host mouse will be stuck. What would you think if you pull the plug of your keyboard? It won't respond either.

Thank you for your reply.

I have only used Virtualbox before on a laptop so using a mouse with virtualbox is novel. I will try again without making changes to USB settings.
