Linux Host - Vista Guest - Kodak Esp9 Printer

Linux Host: Ubuntu 8.10 - 2.6.27-9-generic
Virtual Box: Sun version (not OSE) version 2.1.0
Guest: Windows Vista - 32-bit
Printer: Kodak Esp9 connected via USB cable.

I've got USB working great, and my wife's new Kodak ESP9 printer is recognized in the Vista guest.

Whether I let it automatically search for and install drivers, or install the drivers from the driver CD, the installation seems to go perfectly.

However, when I try to print something, everything looks *as if* its going to work, the printer's display says "Printing..." and then I get a notice that says: "Printer not detected. Make sure your printer is turned on."

Prior to that message, it shows ink levels too. But after the message it shows ink levels to be empty (which they definitely are not).

It's like it just looses the connection altogether whenever it tries to print.

This printer works great from my wife's XP box.

I've checked everything I know to check in Vista to make sure it isn't somehow hosing the connection, but I'm no expert in Vista. I just need to be able to use this printer.

Any thoughts on this?

Thats USB :)

If the Printer works on Host, use CUPS/IPP/Samba to share the Printer over virtual Network.

I'm not sure you understood my question.

That printer will not work with my Linux host. That's why I'm trying to get it to work in a Vista guest on Virtualbox.
