Installing On Ubuntu 7.10

Post by fausto »

Hi. I'm using this tutorial https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VirtualBox to install virtualbox on Ubuntu 7.10. So far I have:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose virtualbox-ose-source
sudo module-assistant prepare
sudo module-assistant update
But when I try the next step, I get:

Code: Select all

~$ sudo m-a unpack virtualbox-ose
The source tarball could not be found!
Package virtualbox-ose not installed?
Running "m-a -f get virtualbox-ose" may help.
I try run what it suggests:

Code: Select all

~$ sudo m-a -f get virtualbox-ose

Updated infos about 1 packages
But then I still get the same old error again:

Code: Select all

~$ sudo m-a unpack virtualbox-ose
The source tarball could not be found!
Package virtualbox-ose not installed?
Running "m-a -f get virtualbox-ose" may help.
What gives?

Sorry but I recommend that you use the Sun download (the PEUL edition). If you want to use the Ubuntu OSE package then the best place to ask about that is on the Ubuntu forums. They're the guys who created it.

If you add the Sun proprietary repository to your sources, then all you need to do is an apt-get install virtualbox-2.1 (after you've removed the OSE version).
